Welcome to the Accounting Deficit
Accounting is boring. When you hear the word accountant or accounting you zone out right?
Yeah, I get it. Good news, I’ll stop. I may use other boring words like debits and credits or I’ll jazz them up by saying expenditures and injections? Now I just sound like a tool you say?
Hmm ok, I see your point.
Without using super boring school language, what if I told you everything in life is related to selfish and generous behavior. What if I said most of the time we are on the wrong side of the formula. What if I told you we are usually on the take and we would be better off giving more.
Many people have talked about this topic using metaphors like marbles in a jar or a trust battery. I am going to use this ledger analogy to talk about everything, relationships, business, politics, health and more.
I want to use this initial post to introduce things and not get too deep. I am hoping to build some trust points so I wont drone on here. Sometimes I’ll get to the point quickly and maybe even whimsically if you ask nicely. I will use wild metaphors that may be a stretch and I’m hoping most will be right no the nose.
This is also my first time getting the things from my brain into writing. They sound really good in my head and it’s time to test that out.
So with all this said, lets do some homework…
oh jeez, did he just say? and he already said accounting?
OH YEAH! HOMEWORK!
I am really hitting the nerd words today!
Your task is to think about your interactions, could be at work, school, home, meandering aimlessly in some downtown, a forrest perhaps… is there some form of give and take?
Go off and give it a think. Then come back and we will discuss. By we’ll discuss I mean I will talk at you while you call me a moron.
Deal?
Man I’m awkward.
Ope, I’m typing out loud... embarrassing.
